S.I.A.P. - Industrial Area Baraccola of Ancona

S.I.A.P. SpA was founded in 1964 by two Venetian brothers-in-law, who, following a family tradition dating back to the sailing ships’ times, since the 30’s had been in the business of coals for factory and heating, importing and reselling them throughout Italy. During the hard years around WWII, the two business partners had also acquired a particular expertise by directly managing two mines.

The company would have had an industrial focus: manufacture anthracite agglomerates; import, stock and supply coals and petroleum products.

While the registered office remained in Venice, the plant was built in the same year in a large country plot, chosen for its position along the Adriatic main road, between harbour and motorway, in Ancona (Central Italy).

Since the 70’s, the industry became even more the main market, therefore, in order to fulfil the needs of steel, cement and tiles factories, the company developed new products.

Furthermore, S.I.A.P. widened its storeyards to offer storage services to importers and customers.

In the 80’s the company began to operate as an authorized Port Enterprise in Ancona.

In the 90’s the layout of plant and storeyards began to change, in order to increase productivity and make space for the new real estate activity, which led to the construction of three warehouses.

Since the years 2000’s, its management system is certified compliant to three ISO Standards (quality, environment, health & safety).

Since 2012 S.I.A.P. also produces photovoltaic power, having installed on its roofs 855 kWp, partially for self-consumption.

Nowadays the area for manufacturing and storage is about 4 ha / 10 ac, on a total own industrial area of about 9 ha / 22 ac.
